Postcards From Our Travelers:
Honolulu, Hawaii

In this postcard, Nicole reflects on all the adventures her short trip to Honolulu, Hawaii, yielded.

Front of postcard: Nicole surfing at Waikiki Beach

Back of postcard, message reads: A few years ago, I was lucky enough to go to Honolulu for work. I was only there for a couple of days, but from the moment I stepped off the plane, I was surrounded by the cultural richness of the islands. From having a lei placed around my neck in greeting as I entered the airport, to the local culinary delights at every meal, to the beautiful beaches and scenery that define the state, I felt as though I not only embraced the culture but the culture embraced me. There wasn’t a lot of time to explore but I learned how to surf on the famous Waikiki Beach with a local, long-time competitor; I fell in love with the local Kona coffee and learned about its unique history to the island; and I enjoyed the reflective, more appreciative lifestyle of those around me. I would love to go back one day and spend more time experiencing all that the islands and its people have to offer, but until then, I’ll try to embody the Aloha Spirit in my everyday life. Aloha, Nicole Lamberson
